Core Educational Design

1. Expert-Led Podcast Series

A three-episode, case-based podcast series featuring multidisciplinary experts in orthopedic oncology, radiology, and sports medicine:

  • Episode 1: The Diagnostic Challenge

  • Episode 2: Recognition & Differential Diagnosis

  • Episode 3: Imaging, Referral, and Next Steps

Each episode is designed to reflect real clinical scenarios, reinforcing pattern recognition and decision-making through storytelling, clinical vignettes, and practical insights—approaches shown to improve retention and behavior change.

2. Integrated Microsite

A dedicated digital hub that translates learning into action:

  • Pre- and post-assessments to measure knowledge and competence

  • Quick-reference diagnostic tools and checklists

  • Imaging examples and clinical red flags

  • Episode discussion guides for team-based learning

This ensures that education is not episodic, but accessible, repeatable, and applicable at the point of care.

3. Practical Clinical Tools

To support real-world implementation, the initiative includes concise, high-value tools such as:

  • TGCT Recognition Checklist

  • Red Flag Symptom Guide

  • Imaging and Referral Pathway Overview

These tools are designed for immediate use in clinic settings, helping clinicians act on suspicion rather than defaulting to continued conservative management.

Designed for Behavior Change

The educational strategy is grounded in how clinicians actually learn and change practice:

  • Case-based learning to mirror real patient encounters

  • Visual and imaging-based reinforcement to support recognition

  • Short-form, accessible content to fit busy clinical schedules

  • Repetition and reinforcement through multiple formats

This approach directly addresses the gap identified by experts: clinicians do not need more information—they need clear signals for when to think differently and act earlier.

Expected Impact

By equipping sports medicine clinicians with practical recognition skills and decision-making frameworks, this initiative aims to:

  • Increase early consideration of TGCT in appropriate patients

  • Promote timely imaging (e.g., MRI) when symptoms persist

  • Improve referral pathways to orthopedic oncology and specialty care

  • Reduce unnecessary treatments and diagnostic delays

Closing the Gap

TGCT is not missed because it is invisible—it is missed because it looks familiar.

This initiative is designed to change that.

By embedding TGCT into the clinical thinking of sports medicine providers, CATCH-TGCT transforms early encounters into opportunities for earlier diagnosis, more appropriate care, and better patient outcomes.
